A handwritten note left behind at a crime scene has become the crucial piece of evidence that led to the arrest of three suspects in the gruesome murder of Ogun-based businesswoman, Madam Olakitan Oyesiku, and her security guard, Pelumi Adetayo.
The breakthrough, announced by the Commissioner of Police, Ogun State Command, Bode Ojajuni, highlights the growing role of forensic science and intelligence-led policing in modern criminal investigations.
Discovery of a Double Tragedy
The incident came to light on June 21, 2026, when police received a distress report regarding suspicious activities at Madam Oyesiku's residence in Owode-Egba.
Upon arrival, detectives discovered signs of forced entry. The security post was locked, prompting officers to gain access to the premises.
Inside, they found the lifeless body of security guard Pelumi Adetayo. A further search of the residence revealed the body of Madam Olakitan Oyesiku lying in a pool of blood inside the main building.
Investigators also discovered that the deceased's Lexus RX 330 SUV was missing from the compound.
The Forensic Breakthrough
As detectives processed the crime scene, they recovered a handwritten note believed to have been left behind by the perpetrators.
Forensic examination of the note generated critical leads that helped investigators narrow down possible suspects and establish connections that eventually unraveled the criminal conspiracy.
The case soon shifted from a mysterious double homicide to a targeted investigation backed by scientific evidence.
Vehicle Recovery Leads Investigators Forward
Police technical tracking teams subsequently traced the stolen Lexus RX 330 to the Onikolobo area of Ogun State.
Although the suspects had removed the ignition key and detached the registration plates, detectives found the original plate concealed beneath a vehicle seat, confirming ownership and strengthening the investigation.
Arrests and Confession
On June 24, detectives arrested the principal suspect, Sodeinde Olajuwon Philip (22), at a construction site in Ibara GRA, Abeokuta.
Further operations led to the arrest of Sakirudeen Abdulraheem Ayoola (27) and Sobu Obafunsho (36).
According to police findings, Philip confessed to participating in the crime and admitted recruiting the two accomplices.
Investigators disclosed that the suspect allegedly acted out of grievances he developed while previously working as a security guard for the deceased.
In his statement, he reportedly claimed that the attack was intended to "teach her a lesson."
How the Crime Was Carried Out
Police investigations indicate that the suspects first overpowered security guard Pelumi Adetayo before using him to gain access into the residence.
Once inside, they allegedly attacked Madam Oyesiku before killing both victims and fleeing with the Lexus vehicle.
Subsequent searches linked to the suspects led to the recovery of a broken hammer, cutlass, wooden plank, black pen, and other exhibits considered relevant to the investigation.

The Ogun State Police Command has assured the public that despite the confessional statements and evidence recovered, all suspects remain entitled to due process under the law.
The Command further reiterated its commitment to ensuring that everyone connected to the crime is prosecuted in accordance with the law.
