OLOTA CALMED ANGRY PROTESTERS OVER REOCCURRING IJU OTA BRIDGE ACCIDENT, PROMISE NORMALCY

 




Our most Revered Royal Father, Olofin Apesin Olode, Olota of Otta, Awori Kingdom, His Majesty, Professor Adeyemi Obalanlege, Ph.D has commiserated with families of victims of accident at Iju Ota bridge.


His Majesty urged angry protesters, who have barricaded Iju Ota bridge to suspend the protest for free flow of vehicular movement at the very busy international road, Ota-Idiroko Express road with the assurance that their agitations will surely get to the Government and their demands would get necessary attention.


In company of Olofin Apesin Olode were; The Executive Chairman, Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government, Hon. Sheriff Musa, Kabiyesi Elegushi of Egushi Ota, Oba Maroof Adio Alagbe, Aro of Otta, High Chief Ezekiel Bamisaiye Fadipe, Baale Iju Ota, Baale Najeem Alaagbe, and others.


What lead to the protest

The protest was sparked up by the simultaneous accidents on the ota-Iju-Atan bridge axis due to the narrowness of the road and tiny bridge. The road is is said to be the linked road to neighboring country, cotonue.


The recent scenario made the IJu-Ota (Atan) youths pulled out in masses to block the only the major expressway that leads to border, to protest the incessant and continuous accident that occurred on this high way.


Last week, a diesel tanker killed about 10 people on this deadly road. Yesterday, an overloaded trailer full of unknown products fell on many Keke napep at the curve point closer to the bridge which led to many casualties record, a usual point where many lives are claimed nearly on weekly basis.




This tragedic event triggers the protest with many inscriptions complaining of the the situation of the road to ogun state and federal government.


Speaking to Glintsightv, Mr Matthew disclosed that, government has neglect this environment and careless of lives and property. He condemned the present government of snobbing the Ota-Atan people, a place classified as one of the commercial hub and  home of industries in the Nigeria.


Another person said the occurrence is spiritual, that the ghost living in the nearby canal are demanding for sacrifices. 


It was observe that said road is too narrow for the population of  motorists it serving on daily basis.


Many Marwa operators and Okada riders laments that the Iju bridge is very weak,  needed government intervention to fix and expand for users.


A motorist said, the road need expansion to  at least four lane to avoid this continuous loss of lives on the road, specifically  Iju bridge tagged as death trap, and danger zone  for motorist.
