Nigeria is the second largest producer okro in the World after India with a production value of 1,819,018 tonnes yearly.
The value of the production across the globe stood at about 9,953,537 tonnes per annum.
India produces more than 60% of world's ok with a value of about 6,176,000 tonnes per year while Mali third the list of the largest producer of okro with a value of 512,855 tonnes per annum.
United States of America ranked number 24 in the list of okro producing countries in the world with a valued of 10,192 tonnes per year.
Okro Values/Usefulness
Okra is low in calories but packed full of nutrients. The vitamin C in okro helps support healthy immune function. Okro is also rich in vitamin K, which helps body clot blood. Antioxidants are natural compounds that helps body fight off molecules called free radicals that can damage cells.
What are we doing with Okra apart from using it to make soups?
This is why we must take research very seriously.
This is why we must make our universities highly functional.
Government needs the universities more than other stakeholders.
