It’s been 50 years since the #AfricanDevelopmentFund set out to ensure social and economic development reached people in low-income and fragile African countries.
In the past five years alone, it helped connect 15.5 million people to electricity, supported 74 million Africans with improved #agriculture and #foodsecurity, built or rehabilitated 8,700 km of roads, enabled 50 million people to gain access to transport, and 42 million people to access better water and sanitation.
By financing more than 3,693 projects in the past 50 years, the #AfricanDevelopmentFund has been effective in helping African countries face unique challenges.
Over the next decade, the sixteenth replenishment of the Fund will not only help African countries weather crises, but also transform their economies to achieve sustainable and inclusive growth.
