ADUKE GOLD AJAYI: The Female Orphan Gospel Music Legend Reducing Global Depression Rate via 'Because of Glory'
The loss of parents during childhood is termed as orphanhood which is considered stressful and deemed as a risk factor for poor mental health of children.
There are approximately 153 million adolescents who have lost a mother or a father and 17.8 million of them have lost both parents according to a census. An orphanhood is a period which involves many psychological and emotional problems, lack of self-determination and inability to take decisions which expose them to risk of anxiety.
Orphan exhibit high anxiety, phobia, emotional and behavioral problems to implement a decision and using the subsequent outcome to shape any further decisions associated with the earlier one. World Health Organization (WHO) said depression prevalence among the orphan adolescents was found to be 36.4% with physical ailments such as digestive problems, sleep disorders, feelings of boredom, helplessness, and social isolation.
Their stressful experiences damage their personalities and affect all interpersonal relationships.

Who is an orphan?
Children are the world's most valuable resources and best hope for the future. Those kids who have lost any or both of their parents are like the flowers without a gardener to protect them, so we must decided to be their lost gardener.
These psychological problems are brought about by their failure to deal with their sense of loss. The vast majority of orphans still have a living parent and while many orphans live in orphanages, some still live with another family member. The UNICEF and numerous international organizations began classifying children with only one parent as orphans in the 1990s when the HIV/AIDS pandemic spread and began killing millions of parents around the world, likewise COVID 19 hullabaloo recently. In a nutshell, orphan are also classified to be the sons and daughters of the widows and widowers.
Programs that pull families and communities out of poverty will help reduce the number of parents who send children to orphanages. Unwanted pregnancy advocacy and Poverty alleviation efforts have a crucial role to play in relieving the global orphan crisis.

In a brain chat with Oladipo Oluwatosin, Publisher and Editor-in-chief, Glintsightv and The Brain Magazine; Gospel singer, Aduke Ajayi, popularly known as Aduke Gold shared her ups and down as a case study to global orphan saga and how God liberated her to become a global hope building ambassador through music.
"The bigger your challenges in life, the bigger your glory, so don't lose hope, you are closer to your destination of fulfilment. It is because of Glory'! Regardless of all manners of statical illustration and tags on orphan, once you have Jesus, you are not alone', Aduke encouraged.
Who is Aduke Gold
Aduke Gold Ajayi is an orphan reducing global depression rate through music. She comfort the weary with message of hope through her songs with scriptural backup. She is a multi-talented woman of excellence serving in different capacity as an exceptional Educationist, Gospel Mistress, psychologist and business woman. She became an orphan from age four, which was a serious experience one can hardly forget in life. She never had anyone to call real father or mother. She shared her testimony of fulfilment despite the fact that she has no parent.
"Having parents does not mean one will have a fulfilled life. In my own case, I had a bad case of fainting every time and whenever it happens, people wonders why was so. To be sincere, If my parents were to be alive they wouldn't have been able to do one percent of what God has done in my life. I use my life to appreciate God because without Him I am nothing. I have gone through several bitter experiences in life - "I was molested emotionally, physically and mentally yet still waxing stronger for God and praying to please God more. I am not ready to please any man" she affirmed.
Aduke also hawked slippers, fried fish and yam and many other things for survival and at age 16, she started teaching in a school.
The Genesis of her music journey
I began my journey in the church at a tender age as a member of the drama group and prayer warrior. My encounter with Jesus gave me the boldness and confidence proclaim Christ every morning by 5 a.m. four days a week. At age eight, I was part of both junior and senior choir; led choreography group and a member of the sanctuary keepers. I engaged myself in a lot of church activities when I was young and I am still committed to the work of God till date.
Aduke has never thought of exploring secular music as she emphasized that not all secular songs are worldly. She said they are only fulfilling their destinies in another field. I know some secular artistes that have good homes and are well cultured. There are some gospel artistes whose ways of life are worse than the one singing circular music. Personally, at parties I satisfy my clients with varieties of songs hence, I don't go beyond my boundary because I always remember I am a child of God, so that I won't do what people will see and question the fact that I am a gospel artiste she declared.

Discovery and Help
Getting to destination of purpose in life is not an easy task. Many people will not believe in you but few people assigned to help you will decode something from you and back your vision. "When I started, people did not believe that it could get to this level of Glory', two great people who stood by me, Mr Ajayi Aderohunmu and Pastor Akin Akinola, my choir master. They are the people sent to help me during my crisis period. Next to beauty is power of appreciation! It is now I begin to see what they discovered in me back then. I was mocked and neglected by many others when the challenges became tough and I thought it would swallow me the way other orphans across the world are feeling today. These two angel in human form sent to me, helped me discover my purpose, nurtured, promoted and connect to greater opportunities.
Academic history
Aduke attended Ayanleye Memorial Primary School, School 4, Ogba, Agege, Lagos State. Education is not about going to a good school. I know people who went to good schools but are not as learned as those we tagged illiterate. The truth is that, it is all about personal development. She love reading books, newspapers, listening to good documentaries, attending conferences and to the glory of God today, she is a child psychologist. She holds her bachelor degree in History from Lagos State University and never for once used her certificates to work.
"After my degree programme, I realised that Nigeria is a great country with diverse opportunities to explore, hence, I seized the opportunity to diversify. A research stated that dual career is the greatest option to shut unemployment door in the 21st century, so, instead of going for a master's degree, I went for professional courses to earn a diploma in Montessori method of education. I am an expert in dealing with children who have cerebral palsy, autism, dyslexia and so on. I did special education with children with specialties and deformities.
Relentless Aduke acquire another diploma in child care in order to have theory-based experience coupled with the practical experience we have in Nigeria.
"So, I am a certified nanny and expert in teaching elementary pupils. I am hoping that God will help me to establish a very good school to accomplish all my dreams. At present, I am undergoing a seminary degree in Christian education, which I believe will boost my career and spiritual life, she narrated.
Defining Moments
In terms of songs to her credit, she said she lost counting but can only point to 4 albums ranging from Lamentations, Temidayo, Might Mercy, Nitori Ogo and still counting.
She shared a defining moment thus: To get to where I am today, I went through different learning processes, hearing and scoring of songs, attending several conferences, seminars, concerts as well as music school. My moment of divine transformation from mystery to mantle, from story to Glory came when I waxed my second album which was a good song yet no patronage. Bulk of the albums were sold in churches which encouraged me that there is still hope. My third album entitled 'Mighty Mercy' was the song God used to bring me to limelight which has become my trademark.
I don't like talking about my first album because I did it when I was under an 'exploitative manager' who only think about their own gains. That was against my wish and will. People think making money is the central thing, no, audience, people that will vouch for your song when you are not there are artiste heritage. 'Nitor Ogo' song has really place me on the global map of hope building for the depressed, frustrated, widows and widowers, orphans and wearies. It really redefines my brand as a Gospel minstrel. I have resolute to consolidate and sustain the gospel music legacy footprints by proclaiming and protesting Christ, the father to the fatherless and motherless to the world.
People of influence or Role Model
Nowadays, many artiste are not serving but starving the work because of fame and love of money. The Evangelistic part of gospel songs is lower than the investment side as everybody craved for fame. Some songs of nowadays only lasted for few months and we rush to the studio in order to refresh people's minds with another substandard work. People who do songs that outlive them are my role models and I want to follow their trend and tradition e g. Ambrose Campbell. Outside the gospel terrain are Professor Ebenezer Obe whose songs are still relevant for more than 50 years now, King Sunny Ade, Wura-Fadaka group, Epo Akara, Ayinde Barrister and Haruna Ishola. My Gospel music role models are Mrs D.A Fasoyin, The Ayo ni C&S choir, Dr. Telemi, Pastor J.A Adelakun of the Ayewa fame, Yemi Olabanji, Dr (Mrs) Bola Are who has been singing for over 40 years, Tope Alabi, Sola Allynson and others proffering solutions to problems through music.
Never forget experience
A lot of never forget experience from marital, environmental, music industry etc. The most punching experiences are:
The day a fan kissed me on stage, I nearly collapse on the stage. He just came to the stage to accolade me for a great performance, I don't know how it happened, he just kissed me. Hushh!
Second one, when tout slapped me on my way to Citypeople Magazines program because of transport fare.
Her hope message
Do you know what makes bible more interesting to read, is 'Battle and Glory'. People fights and win. It is because of Glory you are facing those challenges. They struggle and celebration victories. Whatever battles you are fighting today that led you to depression or made you hopeless, has happened to someone before. Yours is not the first and can never be the last.
At the end of every challenges, there are open doors of blessing behind. Don't loose hope, you are closer to your destination of Glory. Your allocation is waiting for you in your location but before you get to that your Canaan land, there are many bus stop (challenges) you must pass through. Every bus stop with different challenges. The journey is not far again, you are getting closer to your destination, don't loose hope! If God can redefines me, your case is not difficult. You shall be celebrated soon!
