GITEX 2022 North Star Pitch Competition: 5 Startup Winners Emerges, Enjoy Full Sponsorship




The National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), through its subsidiary, Office for Nigeria  Digital Innovation (ONDI) has concluded GITEX 2022 North Star Pitch Competition after recording about 370 applications from Nigerian startups applying to participate at Gulf Information Technology Exhibition (GITEX 2022) in Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE).


40 startups were shortlisted for the final selection process which took place in Abuja and Lagos, where juries carried out the final shortlisting of four startups who will enjoy full sponsorship to participate in North Star and GITEX.



1st and 2nd place will be sponsored to participate at GITEX by North Star, while 3rd, 4th and 5th by NITDA.


The winners are:

1. FLOEWS: Flood Early Warning System, it’s an all-round solution that monitors and forecast flood imminence and, thereby disseminating the forecast data as warning to the inhabitants of flood prone regions for early preparedness, awareness and response.


2. Medtech Africa, a Nigerian-based startup leveraging Artificial Intelligence and Apps to enable Caregivers to treat and manage patients living with Cardiovascular Disease using the Patient's own data.


3. PowerStove, an Award Winning smokeless clean cook stove that burns 70% less biomass, saves lives, generate electricity, improve livelihoods, empower women, and preserve the environment.


4. Edusko, a one-stop, web-based application that allows parents to compare good schools, make informed decisions, access finance to pay for school fees and enrol their children with ease.


5. Quidro Tech Ltd, is Fintech company that helps Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) to have access to funds.
