Who is Adefunke Oladejo?
I am Rachel Adefunke Oladejo (Mrs), born in Lagos but hailed from Ogbomoso in Oyo State. I Am a graduate of mathematics/ computer science from Federal University of Technology, Minna, I obtained my Master and MPhil degree in Computer Science from University of Lagos and OAU respectively and currently pursuing my PhD in the same field. I am a Lecturer in the Department of Computer Science Ogun State Institute of Technology, Igbesa where I'm fulfilling career pursuit. My attributes include being focused, modest and sensitive. Covid-19 is a novel pandemic that shakes the whole world, it has given new definition to existence and shown that life is before essence and above all health is the most essential. The effect of COVID-19 is devastating on individual, Organizations, countries and the whole world at large. COVID-19 is a time waster and destructor of our hard earned economic progress. This pandemic has also enable us realize we can work at home with the health of Technology. Many business obituary has been pasted and new ones are birth to fill the gap.
Adaptation in the new normal world will reveal your chance of survival. The World is now fully operating in the digital economy where business transacts are implemented on the cloud across the globe. Many teachers, doctors, pastors, artisan, engineers may go jobless if failed to upgrade themselves technologically to fit into the digital economy requirements.
Project Redundancy: Who is to be blamed?
Research redundancy is a major menace to our society and has hindered the growth of institutions, industries and even the nation at Large. Students, lecturers institutions, industries and government has failed in this aspect and are all to be blamed.
Some student embark on recycled project, that is "copy and paste project" contributing nothing to knowledge. This could be as a result of laziness and nonchallant attitude. Some lecturers on their own part fail to do thorough supervision of their students projects by making corrections, giving advices making meaningful contributions were necessary. It is also important lecturers suggest link to sites where students can get research journals and articles.
Once a project lack substance it end up on shelves or garbage. Some institutions fails in providing enabling environment for research like good internet services, uninterrupted power supply, conducive reading rooms and equipment for research which hinders research productivity and amount to project redundancy. Researches are meant to solve problems hence the reason a researcher should carry out a feasibility study of existing problems before embarking on research. This is done by visiting organizations knowing their challenges related to researcher field and trying to proffer solution.
However, some industries don't believe in Nigeria research, they prefer to consult foreign expert in solving their problems. 'When will everything made in Nigeria good enough to be used by Nigerians than made elsewhere'. It is a sign of total slavery from currency, to culture, education, music and governance etc when are we going to be liberated. Departments, institutions and government are not creating enough awareness to promote and exhibit good research to draw the attention of potential industries.
On part of the government, research grants and sponsors will go a long way to motivate researcher.
Ambassadorial Contributions
Well, before I joined OGITECH, I worked with an educational system that is, an IT consulting firm that majors on solving educational related issues as a system analyst for some years, however, I had a strong passion for being an educationalist and also impacting knowledge. God so good I joined OGITECH after a while as a part time Lecturer, I served in this capacity until I was staffed sometimes later. I have served as project coordinator, project supervisor and level adviser in the department, I was once the head of department from the year 2013-2017, I have also served as head and member of different committees both at the faculty level and school board of studies.
As I mentioned earlier, I have strong passion for impacting knowledge and morals, I try to develop an interpersonal relationship with my students thereby knowing their strong and weak areas and encouraging them were necessary. Not all students are percent good academically, but I believe they all posses one potential or the other which I encourage them to build.

With all sincerity, multimedia and Entrepreneurship are some of courses I have taught over years and have develop some must interest in. Multimedia as a course is so wide as there are different areas one can specialise on these include graphics, animations, video editing , audio editing, web authoring etc however, any of this areas is worth researching on as it can be a source of wealth. Like wise, Entrepreneurships is an eye opener to different business development opportunities in our environment. Due to the nature of these two courses , I have quest to know more and Share my findings in class.' she said

Every process is been automated or computerised now, hence lecturers in computer science department tries to engage our students in related and skillful practical and not just head knowledge in order for them to be able to compete anywhere they find themselves. Aside that, most lecturers in computer Science department don't compromise, students can hardly bribe their ways to pass so they know all they need to do is to study hard to get a good grade.
Computer Science students are doing very well in the labour market, there are encouraging feedbacks from many of their employers and some of them have their own well established I.T firms. They are employers of labour thereby contributing positively to the growth of Nigeria Economy.
People's Perception On Computer Science Studies
For anyone to say "students studying computer science is a waste of time" is a very wrong perception and such person is myopic in reasoning. The fact that you can operate a computer or handset does not make you a computer expert. There are so many nutty gritty on computing that one is not exposed to until you study the course. So many people are just operating computer via software but don't know what is embedded in it to perform the task it is performing. An average computer scientist is a software and computer analyst. Computer Scientist are also known to be the vertebrae of world networking. Computer scientist are new coronated king of all careers controlling the affairs of all businesses in the digital economy era.
Outdated Curriculum
The issue of outdated curriculum is not only peculiar to computer science alone but to some other departments as well. Indeed, the NBTE Curriculum needs constant review to be in compliance with what is obtainable by international schools standard. So many of the content are archaic but thanks to local contents introduced by the department, I believe more will be introduced as time goes on.
Some other factors which are laboratories, computer systems, departmental library and research rooms will be catered for soonest.
