Agbara Area Command Commended for Peace, Community Partnership and Inter-Agency Collaboration
AGBARA, OGUN STATE — The Area Commander of the Agbara Area Command, Assistant Commissioner of Police Tanaruno Folashade Anthonia, has been honoured as the Most Proactive Area Commander of the Year 2026 at the Security and Safety Excellence Award 2026.
The recognition celebrates her leadership in coordinating security operations within the Agbara corridor, protecting lives and property, and fostering collaboration between the Nigeria Police Force, sister security agencies and members of the community.
The award was presented through the Friday Communication Group by the Publisher of Nigerian Entrepreneurs Magazine and Convener of the Security and Safety Excellence Award 2026.
The honour comes shortly after the Ogun State Commissioner of Police commended the Agbara Area Command for maintaining peace within its operational corridor.
The Commissioner had described the Agbara corridor as one of the peaceful areas under the Ogun State Police Command, attributing the development to effective leadership, cooperation among security agencies and community support.
The Commissioner also noted that the area had not experienced major security complications such as robbery and kidnapping during the period under review, while some minor disturbances, including student-related unrest, were attributed to youthful exuberance.
ACP TANARUNO: “TO WHOM MUCH IS GIVEN, MUCH IS EXPECTED”
Receiving the award, ACP Tanaruno expressed appreciation to the organisers and those who found her worthy of recognition.
She, however, said the award was not an excuse for celebration alone but a renewed call to responsibility.
“To whom much is given, much is expected.”
The Area Commander dedicated the award to the officers serving under her command, acknowledging their teamwork and commitment to maintaining peace across the Agbara corridor.
She also appreciated members of the community for supporting the police and other security agencies.
According to her, security cannot be left to the police alone.
“Security is not only police business; it is everybody’s business.”
ACP Tanaruno said the cooperation she has received from residents and community stakeholders had contributed significantly to the security situation in the Agbara area.
She stressed that effective security requires partnership between law enforcement agencies and the people they serve.
BUSINESS COMMUNITY REPRESENTED
The Area Commander also expressed appreciation to Dr Dele Olapade, Chief Executive Officer of Chemiron Chemicals, for representing the Agbara business community at the occasion.
His presence highlighted the important relationship between security and economic development.
For an industrial and commercial corridor such as Agbara, a stable security environment remains critical to businesses, workers, residents and investors.
OLADIPO: “SHE IS AN AGENT OF CHANGE”
Also speaking, Evang. Oluwatosin Oladipo, Publisher of The Brain Magazine and Newspaper and Founder of Hephad Schools Ltd, commended ACP Tanaruno for what he described as her proactive approach to policing and community security.
Oladipo described the Area Commander as an exemplary police officer whose leadership demonstrates that effective law enforcement requires discipline, strategic thinking, collaboration and community engagement.
He further commended her ability to serve as an example to women seeking leadership roles within the security sector and society.
He said:
“You are an exemplary police officer that can mentor and lead women for a change of society through your mind-surgery approach to law enforcement without compromise. Well done, Ma. More landmarks are coming.”
SECURITY AS A SHARED RESPONSIBILITY
The Agbara recognition also brings renewed attention to the importance of community participation in crime prevention.
While the police remain responsible for law enforcement, security stakeholders increasingly emphasise intelligence sharing, community vigilance and cooperation among agencies as essential components of effective policing.
For residents and businesses in Agbara, the message from the award ceremony is therefore clear: maintaining peace requires a partnership between the police, other security agencies, community leaders, businesses and ordinary citizens.
A RESPONSIBILITY BEYOND THE AWARD
For ACP Tanaruno, the award may be a recognition of past efforts, but her response suggests that she sees it as a fresh responsibility.
