Angela Tony iji: The Lagos Women Dance Driver propagating Healthy Life style via stress management

Many women are dying day by day due to diverse form of stress unable to managed.  The Lagos city stress percentage is much more higher than other states in Nigeria due to the hustling and bustling  of everything in the city.

Therefore Mrs Angela Tony Iji and her team launched a dance campaign to educate women on how to stress out via dance therapy. Her second edition in 2021 speech is excerpt:

I welcome you all to this second edition of the Lagos women dance. Once again I want thank you for making out time out of your busy schedule to stress out the accumulated  excess luggage of stress associated with our daily routines in Lagos especially in life generally in these challenging times.

Last year I told those of us who participated that women, unlike men are like machines that work round the clock, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 31 days a month and 12 months a year tending to work life, family, business and our martial obligations forgetting to take care of our physical, psychological and social needs.

Stress as we all know comprise of physical, emotional, financial mental stress and lots more. Most Lagos woman has little or no time to stress out due to their hustle and bustle nature of the city of Lagos but without the hustle and bustle of this city some of us won't love Lagos the way we do.

The Lagos women is saddled with tending to the kids, house chores, career, religious, business and husband care forgetting that "Me, Myself and I" existed before these entities.

The Lagos women dance is a dance exercise/work-out activity in form of sport which seeks to address the lacuna in women's lives.

However, women who have forgotten or forgetting that "their own lives matter"  the Lagos, the Nigerian and the African woman who do not think that self love, self care in the face of all the activities mention earlier on which do not give the woman time to stress out, socialise, network and have fun, the Lagos women dance to fill the gap.

In this time of covid era, stress seem to have doubled as a result of the covid 19 effects, the new normal has come to stay but as women, I want to encourage us to take action, choose to challenge the odds against womanhood and our wellbeing, beat your chest and say to yourself, my life, my well-being matter, "woman life matter"and so I must rise up to the challenge of having to give myself, carry all activities out, but also remember to love myself by shedding off the excess luggages by taking steps to relieve stress.

If we do not, as mothers, career women and business women, care takers and care givers (we give it all out forgetting ourselves) take out time to stress out, socialise, unwind, pamper ourselves even when no one cares then we will have more women becoming less productive, becoming more traumatised, slump and die and even on the verge of suicide due to stress and trauma

Dance itself is a form of exercise/sport  that involves your whole system, physical, mental and psychological state, dance combined with music, sports and entertainment is life, it heals, it maintains our shape and state of mind. You can can choose to dance even while cooking, even in the "other room" you  can dance well and make it a form of exercise "konko below, konko on top"and  there you go.

Lagos woman, beautiful woman, African queen, lets be wise, give yourself a "me time" dance, meditate, unwind, network, do some massage/sauna with good music at least once a week to live long and overcome stress and trauma in these trying times. Your happiness is in your hands, why are women becoming violent, traumatised committing murder, commiting suicide and all forms of atrocities that were not associated with womanhood before now? This calls for a rethink in the way we are being stressed or life is treating us, say no to all forms of stress, take steps to eliminate stress and be happy for us to have and birth a better world to live in, a world where family values and lives matter because a woman is involved and because you are happy and stress free.

To cushion the effect of stress on women, we are rolling out a couple of events (let corona virus leave us in peace to do so) and i wish to at this juncture appeal to your Excellency, to as a mother beg our daddy his Excellency to include and adopt the Lagos women dance as a Lagos sport that will in the future attract tourism and above all improve the wellbeing of women in Lagos, Africa and the world over.

To round up, here are some of our upcoming events check it on our social media handle -fitg: lagoswomendance
