Agbara, Ogun State – In a bold move to tackle rising crime in the Agbara axis, ACP Tanaruno Antonia Folashade, Area Commander, Agbara, has launched a quarterly security alliance uniting the police, traditional rulers, youth representatives, businesses, and sister security agencies. The initiative is aimed at addressing modern criminal threats, including kidnapping, theft, cultism, and vandalism, and emphasizes that community safety is a shared responsibility.
Speaking at the gathering held at Crown City Hotel, ACP Folashade stressed that the police cannot fight crime alone and urged all stakeholders to actively participate in intelligence sharing, joint patrols, and neighborhood vigilance. “No community survives alone, and no security agency succeeds without the people,” she said.
As part of the initiative, the phone numbers of all Divisional Police Heads were released to residents, enabling real-time reporting of suspicious activities and boosting the community’s capacity to prevent crimes before they occur. Traditional rulers and community leaders were urged to mediate disputes, mobilize youth participation, and encourage residents to cooperate with security agencies.
Businesses and industries were also called upon to install security measures within their premises, participate in corporate social responsibility initiatives, and support local policing efforts. Sister security agencies including NSCDC, Amotekun, SO-SAFE, Legion, and vigilante groups pledged to strengthen coordination with the police for prompt and effective response to emerging threats.
The Area Commander assured participants of the police’s commitment to professionalism, accountability, and rapid response to all emergencies, stating that misconduct or unprofessional behavior by any officer would be appropriately sanctioned.
The quarterly meetings are designed to review progress, address new security challenges, and ensure that Agbara remains a safe and prosperous environment for residents, businesses, and visitors alike. ACP Folashade concluded by urging all stakeholders to rise above differences and work hand-in-hand to secure the community, noting that crime does not rest, and neither shall we.
